I've bought more cookbooks than I've cooked from which surely is defeating the purpose.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Anyway, this week I have managed to cook from Food of Venice by Luigi Veronelli.  My mum brought me back this book from her holiday to Venice a long while ago. The recipe was unusual in that you added all the rice to the stock in one go and also because it uses beef stock. Never mind it is unlikely that anyone will ever really want&lt;br /&gt;to know  &lt;i&gt;(post edited to add book name)&lt;/i&gt;. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;More parsnip soup - parsnip, apple and thyme.  It was nice but I&lt;br /&gt;didn't really like it.  I think I'm just not a parsnip soup person.&lt;br /&gt;Too sweet perhaps. It is currently March so I went to the March section.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is the first soup in the section.  I like parsnips and lemon and vanilla but now I think there may be a reason I have never eaten them all together before.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The soup was very easy to make and had a fabulous texture.  It was hard to believe that it wasn't made with double cream.  The name of the soup is nearly a complete ingredient list - onions and stock being the only other additions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There was just something slightly wrong with the combination of tastes for me. Love it.  And that is why I nearly ate the whole grunt myself in only three days.  It is even fabulous cold for breakfast.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The new forced rhubarb had arrived in the grocers.  Nigella has lots of tasty sounding recipes.  The topping turns out like dumpling or perhaps a little like steamed pudding. There are many others that look a bit more interesting. But I had a butternut squash that I wanted to be rid of so that was that.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It turned out very well. I cooked it in two stages which probably made it a bit more stodgy than it would otherwise have been. Fried some sage leaves as garnish which was nice. Oh and added a mustard dressed salad.
